The industrial pollution

Clean air is very important and without it we can’t live for more than a few minutes! Since the industrial revolution 700 years ago, the air quality has gotten worse and worse. It led to extreme pollution to a point that the skies were barely blue and the trees, houses and cars were covered in dirt. After reading this essay, you will understand the causes, effects and possible solution for the industrial pollution.

Releasing carbon dioxide is considered the major cause of the pollution. It is true that factories do not only emit CO2.However, “carbon dioxide remains to be at least 40% of the emission” (Lad, “causes of Air pollution”) this pollutant is also responsible for many worldwide problems such as global warming and climate changes. Another cause of the “factorial pollution” is the disposal of factories’ wastes(http://www.niehs.nih.gov/). When a factory throws unwanted products, whether in landfills or in water, it releases large quantities of methane in the atmosphere. Methane is not dangerous by itself, but it tends to combine with other gases in the air to create a harmful gas. In addition, this gas can generate dangerous explosions like what happened in LA. “Methane gas venting in the, Fairfax District of Los Angeles resulted in the explosion of a Ross Dress for Less department store in 1985, and the evacuation of several buildings in 1989” . A further point is the pollutants that are known to be the main sources of the industrial and air pollution. The pollutants are nitrogen dioxide, sulfur dioxide, carbon monoxide. These gases come from burning fossil fuels in factories such as oil and natural gas.

The industrial pollution has several direct impacts on the environment, buildings, animals and humans especially the ones living in big cities. One noticeable effect is the chronic diseases like lung cancer, asthma and heart diseases. Older people and children are mostly to be influenced by pollution. According to Niehs.nih.gov: “children who live in highly polluted communities are five times more likely to have clinically low lung function—less than 80% of the lung function normal for their age” A second effect is the ozone depletion (http://www.standford.edu)/ .The industrial pollution makes “holes” in the ozone layer in the atmosphere. This can increase the amount of harmful rays reaching the earth. Finally, the pollutants we mentioned before are damaging the living and non-living things. Chronic exposure to pollution breaks down the leaves’ cover which lets the plants lose water and then die. Moreover, the combination of the pollutants sometimes forms “the acid rain”. According to Epa.gov: “acid rain accelerates the decay of building materials and paints, including irreplaceable buildings, statues, and sculptures that are part of our nation's cultural heritage.”

In conclusion, talking about this problem seems hopeless, but there is a chance to change and make a difference. Stopping producing the manufactured materials and human activities is not exactly practical so we should think of other solutions. I think looking for natural alternative resources in yours own country is the best solution for pollution. These resources must not be toxic or harmful to the environment and would be better if they are renewable ones so we won’t be afraid of losing them. MASDAR in Abu Dhabi as an example is trying to use the solar energy as an alternative to oil. The wind energy and the water energy are also possible solutions; however the practical application is somehow difficult. It is true that these alternatives are well known but are not widely available and the finance is involved. Many industrial businesses depend on the current resources and if they change that, they will pay more money. I hope that governments can settle these arguments and make it easier for companies to accept this solution. It may take years to do so, but at least we decided to change and save ourselves and our environments from this disaster.

The Report

The innovation which has transformed my professional life in recent years is the computer. At the ADMC we have many things to make every time until the end of the day and the end of the course. All the time we use the laptop in our class to do many useful things such us uploading our home work, searching for some ideas, chatting with people around us, online staff, using the Google dictionary etc. In the past it was so hard for the student, teacher and people to study and learn things. Before they used the pen and paper to make their homework and do research. They also used the big books to get some information. In fact all those things were the same all around the world. When first I visited South Africa, it’s a very beautiful place and they have many natural forests. I lived in a small house near the airport. One day I went out to look for a computer shop so I started to ask people but they couldn’t understand English, so what I did was to show them the photo of the computer and they understood it. The people told me that it’s hard to find a computer shop, but you can find it in the exhibition. I went there and asked the man how much for one hour he told me it’s 1$. I told him that it was so expensive; he said yes because the computer shop here is rare. The students, when they want to do their homework, search in the books.

The history of the computer is very old. The first use of the word "computer" was recorded in 1613, referring to a person who carried out calculations, or computations, and the word continued to be used in that sense until the middle of the 20th century ( www.computer.org). The history of the modern computer begins with two separate technologies—automated calculation and programmability—but no single device can be identified as the earliest computer, partly because of the inconsistent application of that term. (http://en.wikipedia.org) In 1937 Alan Turing pioneered the idea of machines that could complete well defined tasks by being supplied with programs (http://www.buzzle.com/). When first the computer came it was so huge and very big that it needed at least one big room for it. From the end of the 19th century onwards, the whole world began to take a more familiar understanding, describing a machine that carries out computations.

Today the computer is all over the world. More than one billion persons use the computer every day. It helps them to chat with other people and to know about the news for your country and the other countries. The computer helps students do homework and some research. Also people use the computer for media to help them to make movies and some tracks in the picture. It helps also the companies that you can find your file easily and in a short time. Also it helps in travel that you can find tickets, hotels and you will know about important places that you will visit.

Buggati and Porsche

Comparing the Bugatti Veyron and the Porsche 911.

In the progress of developments in all areas of the world, the most prominent development is in the field of cars, and this shows in the emergence of the Porsche 911 and the Bugatti Veyron. This kind of sports car is very expensive and the average person cannot buy these cars.

Despite the important differences between these cars there are a few similarities we should consider. First similarity, both cars have a brake system, because both have a high speed on the road. Another similarity is both cars are modified by turbo charges to increase the horsepower in the engine. Yet another similarity is that both have traction systems on the road to prevent sliding on curves at speed.

Although there are some similarities between the Bugatti Veyron and the Porsche 911 there are also some differences. The first difference is the engine; for example the Bugatti Veyron engine is in front of the car (http://www.highbeam.com)whereas/ whereas the Porsche 911 engine is at the back .Another difference is the price. The Bugatti Veyron is more expensive (http://www.businessweek.com/) than the Porsche 911. Yet another difference is that the Bugatti Veyron has four turbo chargers whereas the Porsche 911 has only two (http://www.motortrend.com/). The final difference is how much they cost. The Bugatti is very expensive and the Porsche 911 costs less.

In conclusion the similarities are more than the differences. At the same time both cars are strong and comfortable with a nice sport design. In my opinion, I like to advise those who want to buy one of these cars to choose the Porsche 911 because it’s cheaper than the Bugatti Veyron and I think it’s safer than the Bugatti.
